Promoting the Marine Industry

The MTA/NJ spends a significant amount of time and resources promoting the boating industry and member businesses.  This is done through aggressive advertising, marketing, promotions, special events and annual campaigns designed to grow boating.

Fighting for Your Rights

The MTA/NJ has an aggressive and unified approach to legislative issues, lobbying and governmental relations services through the Princeton Public Affairs Group in Trenton.  The MTA/NJ has been very active in the movement, amendment, opposition and/or consideration of a number of bills that were introduced in the legislature this past year that could have an impact on the recreational boating industry.  The MTA/NJ continues to fight hard for the rights of its members and is an important resource for Legislators, staff in Trenton and throughout the State.

The MTA/NJ has a Periodic Newsletter, E-communications and website which keeps members up-to-date on industry news, alerts, events and much more.

Annual Boater’s Directory

This helpful boater’s resource guide lists all members and their products and services for free!  It is distributed to thousands of boaters annually at boat shows, special events and more.  Each year, boaters seek out this guide which directs them right to your door!

Member Only Discounts

MTA/NJ members receive discounts on shipping, marine insurance, collection services, and office supplies with the Staples Business Advantage Program.  Through this program, members save on average 15-20% over the prices seen in stores, and receive free shipping and next day delivery.

Influential Contacts

The MTA/NJ has Direct contacts with legislators, environmental groups, law enforcement, state and federal agencies.   MTA/NJ staff members spend a significant part of every day communicating and frequently meeting with these agencies to address the issues that impact the industry including regulatory issues, permitting problems, dredging projects and more.

Discount Boat Show Space

  MTA/NJ members receive discounted rates at area boat shows including the Atlantic City In-Water and the Atlantic City International Power Boat Shows.  These savings alone far outweigh the cost of membership in the Association.

Educational Seminars and Workshops

Over the past few years, there have been a number of educational programs, workshops and meetings organized just for MTA/NJ members and marine businesses to help them in their business and achieve greater profits.  The MTA/NJ also offers an extensive conference covering a diverse range of subjects designed to help members meet the challenges and opportunities facing their businesses and the industry every day.  In addition, the Education Committee has been hard at work addressing industry workforce issues and seeking new educational opportunities for members.

 The MTA/NJ Conference as well as regular Membership Meetings and Networking Socials are excellent opportunities for members to network and interact with fellow members, marine business owners and guest speakers. Fellow members are the best resource for any questions or

 problems you may have.

Internet Links

  All MTA/NJ members are listed on the MTA/NJ website at www.mtanj.org and are able to utilize the free internet job posting service.  Members can also receive up-to-date information on current events as well as register for events online to save time.  The MTA/NJ’s “Members Only Section” provides members with information from the MTA/NJ resource table, member meeting presentations, information on grant funding and more.  The website also features the “Boater’s Click Here” link which is designed just for New Jersey Boaters.  Members can add the MTA/NJ link to their websites and spread the word to their boating customers about this new online boater resource.

Advertising Opportunities

MTA/NJ Members can purchase advertising in the Tradewinds newsletter or the Boater’s Directory.  MTA/NJ members also have the opportunity to exhibit their products and services

at the MTA/NJ Conference.

Assistance Available

The MTA/NJ has year-round fully staffed office available to assist members in solving marine related problems.   The MTA/NJ staff assists members daily on everything from environmental regulations, business and legal issues, industry information and more.
